2012 MURTON PARK, YORKSHIRE
Murton Park Farming Museum not only has a small Viking style village (Danelaw) but also a reduced-scale Roman fort that school are able to use for 'Roman days'. We were able to move into the fort for a weekend, where were cooked Roman meals, tried our hands at a little pottery firing and carried out a variety of other crafts for the public.

Jamie hard at work cooking, he didn't stop all weekend; Roman rissoles, hazelnut stew, soft cheese ...
we were never hungry!
we were never hungry!
Our first attempts at a clamp kiln, firing pots on a bonfire. we inevitably rushed the process and only one of our hand-thrown pots survived the fire. Next time we will do better, advice from our friend Lee the Potter has been very useful.
